Big scope, adult themes, no compromises. Terry is great at respecting his readers and refusing to candy-coat his story or offer the easy way out taken by many YA writers (which is usually, "if you find the right adult and follow them, you'll be okay"). He's also, as everyone who has taken his writing workshops over the years knows, an incredibly generous teacher.
